Over several years now because of life circumstances and poor health, my home had become so cluttered, so unmanageable that I no longer found peace and comfort at the end of the day. The task was too overwhelming and I did not know where to start. Clutter made me emotionally and physically drained. I wanted a home that was neat, easy to access and clean and most of all, welcoming after a long day. I tried to get help from family and friends but they also found it quite too much to handle. When this happens your self esteem and energy is sapped even more.
After attending a library seminar featuring Sue Hawkins from her Clutterbuster business I finally saw someone who could help me get back to a sane world.
Since Sue has been coming to my house, the atmosphere has changed dramatically. She is practical and non judgmental which is so important. Decluttering is not keeping and just storing things nicely, it is choosing the things you need to make your home happy and functional. It's getting past the worry that I should keep everything.
I am so pleased with our progress so far. So much has been donated, recycled and discarded. My home is becoming more inviting again and much easier to clean. I find I can manage without the things I had held onto that really did not give me joy. I look forward to the future and not overwhelmed as I have been for so many years.
